"I would love to say that the journey from the picture on the left to the picture on the right was a fast ‘transformation’, but it began in earnest about 10 years ago, is an ongoing process and will continue to be so. I was in my early 20s, was miserable and had such a negative view of myself. I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without being desperately out of breath. I didn’t know where or how to start. So I began by walking because I was too embarrassed to join a gym.

I’ve tried everything you can think of - fad diets, crash diets, all kinds of exercise regimes. Each one eventually stopped working for me because they were unsustainable. There were times when I gave up and fell off the wagon. Change was slow for me but with each pound I lost and as I got healthier and fitter I grew in confidence. I had trainers and coaches that connected the dots for me and pushed me to that next place and next level and I’m forever grateful for that.

What had been a slow and sometimes uneven process accelerated when I discovered CrossFit.

When I moved to Kansas City in 2015, I hoped to find a gym that would help me continue my progress. I had no idea when I walked in the door of the impact that 2020 Fitness would have on me. With the encouragement and guidance of the coaches at 2020, I started working out consistently 5 days a week, I figured out my nutrition and started counting macros, and I started lifting heavy weights. The coaches understood me, knew what I needed to succeed  pushed me to achieve it. The combination of all of this is when the real change happened.

If you feel like the picture on the left - I can’t tell you it will be easy. Don’t be intimidated. Believe in yourself. Jump in and never look back."
